Key Props

As with all fantasy and horror films, symbols and specific (meaningful) props make the storyline a lot more interesting  and unique.
Whilst planning for my storyline and film concept, I came up with a handful of key symbols and props which have significant meaning to the situations in the film.
These were my initial ideas for the key objects:
  • A charm/necklace/bracelet with a meaningless symbol, which I could use to give it a specific meaning in relation to the film. I wanted the symbol to be simple and easy to draw on paper. I didn't mind the form of jewellery that I wold find it in but a necklace was my preference. The symbol would link the blood of the spirit of the dead girl with the person of her choice. This symbol works because it's bound by a spell. I have managed to find the perfect prop whilst looking in shops. It has a simple outline yet it's big, therefore effectively visible.

  • A diary will be used for the early communication stage between the spirit of the dead girl and Jenai. I wanted this diary to be plain and look either old fashioned or deteriorated because its old. Most diaries that I have found were colourful and too bright with pictures to be used in my trailer. I have come across one with a sequined feather at the front cover, however the back cover is plain, therefore I have decided to use this as the diary, just turn it over and upside down considering the pages are plain therefore it won't be visible that the diary is the wrong way around.

  • A simple white/cream coloured pillar candle would be the prop used for the scenes where the two school girls are performing a ritual to protect and free the spirit of the dead girl.
